Hello Whanau and Friends,
B and I here. With less than ten days to go until we head off to Europe for our events we want to say thank you to everyone who has helped us fundraise and make our trips overseas possible this year. We hosted a fundraising night in mid-June, we ran raffles, and with the support of our friends and community we have raised enough money to make our events really do-able. We are also really grateful for all the encouragement, advice, and support we have received along the way. It means an awful lot to B and I, thank you.
We would also like to thank our family and friends for sticking with us through our antics, and supporting us even when we get really busy. We love you loads x
It feels a bit crazy in hindsight, but B and I bought a boat and put it in a shipping container for Europe in February, without knowing if we would find the money to even GET TO EUROPE. So we feel very proud and we are starting to get very excited to get through our study, and get stuck into racing. I think you only regret the opportunities and chances you didn't take, and B and I hope we won't leave no stone unturned in our sailing together. #YOLO
As with any trips overseas, there is a lot of admin, planning, packing, and sorting that goes on. That is exactly what B and I have been doing - running around like busy bee's trying to get our lives in order so we can fly out. It still feels like we have a mountain to climb before we fly, because we have exams and a few more errands to sort, but it is all coming together. We have also been trying to figure out what we are going to do with our Gap week. We have loved hearing everyone's thoughts on this, and excitingly, we have decided base ourselves in Florence in Italy and go from there. We want to experience some culture and enjoy being in Europe.
As with training, we have still been sailing off Torbay and are still loving it. We have to admit the weather has been very frustrating this month as there has often been too much wind, or nothing. We can confirm it is always raining in Auckland, and we have had sessions where we have arrived at the yacht club, sat in the car, and waited for it to clear up. Just the joy of sailing in the winter;-) We don't have many sessions left, so we are focusing on enjoying it and feeling good in the boat.
This next week and a half will absolutely fly past us as we have a lot to do and focus on, many apologies if we don't see you before we go, we'll have to have a good catch up when we are back in 2 months.
B and C
Thank you x
