Reynolds-Smith Twins

​

Our names are Brianna and Courtney Reynolds-Smith. We are twin sisters, 21 years old, born and raised in Auckland. We started sailing when we were 10 years old off Narrow Neck Beach in plastic optimists. For some reason, when we were 15 years old we decided it would be a good idea for us to start sailing together in the 420 class. Together we trained hard through our teenage years and our sailing careers truly started taking off. We made International Youth teams, won national titles and started competing on the World Stage. When we left school we decided on Olympic Campaigning and chasing our Olympic dream.

We did stop sailing together for two years from the back end of 2018 to start of 2021. This was a interesting time for us. Sailing separately proved to be an invaluable learning and growing experience for the both of us. We both had our own success, Brie achieving an Olympic Qualifying Berth in the 470 Class and C winning Nationals in Laser Radial. However, like magnets we have teamed back together to have another shot at Olympic Selection for Paris 2024.

We are both very excited about this campaign towards Paris and have made decent progress in our training since changing boat classes and teaming up again. We hope by sharing our story we can also inspire the kids that we coach to dream big and work hard. Currently we are working on Sponsorship that will help us to compete overseas and start producing results like we have in the past.
